I love Malaysian designers

A celebration of fashion at The Gardens Mid Valley

gg161109-p1120559 While everyone was waiting on the edge of their seats for MIFW to begin, Garden's Mall took it a notch up by holding their own Fall Fashion Week a month earlier.

Partnering with Dior, Centro Hair Saloon, Raymond Choon and Andy Ho couture, you had to know it wasn't another wannabe fashion show being organized.

And sure enough, as we chinked out champagne glasses and stood in the centre of a mall turned mystical garden fashion runway wonderland, it almost felt as though I was an adult version of Mary Lennox in the Secret Garden, except that my grass pathways were shiny white marble, and my picket fences weren't made from organic wood.

And in true Malaysian spirit, local Malaysian fashion designers from 2201 Fashion Avenue were featured for this fashion show. Labels included Karl Ng, Alvin Tay Couture, Millie’s, Sorted, Terrenz, Intoxikate by Scott Chu, Nazleen Noor and a brand new modern and fun label
called Cocchio.

Suffice to say, it was definitely one of the more enjoyable events I've attended.

Flirty, sexy, clean cuts, blinged, batiks, couture shoes, high fashion, casual do's, luxurious cuts... You name the type, it would've been featured on that runway sometime or other.

I would explain each collection to you in detail but I worry you'd be lost in fashion translation.

All you need to know is this...
Head to 2201 Fashion Avenue in Gardens and support local designers y'all! The designs featured on the show were handmade by the designers and would be available at their outlets.

Here’s how to revamp your style without overhauling your closet

1. Accessorizing is a great way to pick up your outfit

2. Shoes can give your outfit a new breath of life

3. The tote you’re carrying can make or break your outfit

4. Staple items are needed like tailored pants and pencil skirt

5. Don’t be afraid to mix and match items within your closet  even if they clash
